A dozen ways to delay aging (Detroit Free Press)
Want to look and feel your real age? Or younger? Dr. Michael Roizen, cofounder of RealAge.com, has done an exhaustive review of more than 35,000 medical and scientific studies about aging in humans. He has uncovered many of the mysteries of how and why we age, and shares the simple things we can do to make our "real age," which can be older or younger than what the calendar says. Here are his ...

Stanford researchers results in mice point to the malleability of aging based on genetic manipulation
Immortality Blog By Mitch Ronco on 12/8/2007 12:38 AM
The work backs up the theory that aging is the result of specific genetic changes rather than accumulated wear and tear, Chang said. What’s more, those genetic changes can be reversed even late in life. “The implication is that the aging process is plastic and potentially amenable to intervention,” Chang said. The results will be published in the Dec. 15 issue of the journal Genes and Development.

Aging's Economic Impacts
Immortality Blog By Mitch Ronco on 11/25/2007 11:22 PM
Life Extension is being touted as a boon to new industries and as a detriment to pension funds. What's the net economic impact of longer lifespans going to be? Only the future will tell; but, assuming that longer life means longer productive years, we most likely will see the utilization of what would otherwise have been a lost opportunity cost to society. Assuming that health care keeps up with longevity care, one can hardly imagine that people will continue to retire at 65, when they may well live 3 to 5 decades beyond that. Stories below illustrate the debate.

Fat Hormone may help be related to longevity.
Immortality Blog By Mitch Ronco on 11/24/2007 10:28 PM
The hormone adiponectin which tells cells when to start burning fat may contribute to longevity. Burning of fatty acids causes less free radicaly damage which may explain the relationship to longevity in Snell mice as well as humans.
