Retinoic acid research points to a genetic switch for tissue regeneration in mice

Scientists studying why rabbits can repair ear tissue better than common laboratory mice identified retinoic acid production as a key difference. In mouse experiments, retinoic acid treatment and activation of the Aldh1a2 pathway improved regeneration of ear pinna tissue.

This is not a human therapy. It is an early animal study that helps explain how mammalian regeneration might be switched on or off.
